ایسلند یکی از پایین ترین نرخ جرم و جنایت خشونت آمیز را در جهان دارد. در ایسلند پلیس ها مسلح نیستند، مصرف مواد مخدر سنگین کم است و تنش های بین کلاس های مختلف اقتصادی مردم عملا وجود ندارد.[منبع]

ریکیاویک پایتخت و بزرگترین شهر ایسلند است که اداره پلیس متروپولیتن را در دل خود جای داده است. اداره پلیس متروپولیتن دارای حساب کاربری رسمی در اینستاگرام است که جز حساب های بسیار سرگرم کننده در بین علاقمندان این پایگاه شناخته می شود. با نزدیک به 300 عکس و 75000 دنبال کننده قطعا اداره پلیس ایسلند یکی از محبوب ترین ادارات پلیس جهان به شمار می رود.

مسابقه عکاسی نشنال جئوگرافی در حوزه مردم، اماکن و طبیعت

مسابقه سالانه عکاسی نشنال جئو گرافی سال 2014 با دریافت آثار برگزیده تا 31 اکتبر 2014 آغاز شد. جایزه برنده اول این مسابقه مبلغ 10000 دلار و یک سفر به مقر نشنال جئوگرافیک در واشنگتن و شرکت در سمینار سالانه عکاسی نشنال جئوگرافی است که در ژانویه 2015 برگزار خواهد شد. همچنین بر طبق قوانین این مسابقات برنده رتبه اول در هر رده (مردم، اماکن و طبیعت) 2500 دلار جایزه دریافت می نمایند و عکسشان بر روی جلد مجله نشنال جئوگرافی منتشر خواهد شد.

در سال گذشته بیش از 7000 پست از 150 کشور دریافت شد و در مسابقه امسال تا حال حاضر بیش از 2000 محتوا ارسال شده است. دوستان ما در Nat Geo تعدادی از مطالب ارسالی برای شرکت در مسابقه را که قابل توجه هم می باشند در اینجا به اشتراک گذاشته اند.

It is part of the collection of an old retired diver who worked during the 1950s with this equipment in Lake Geneva.The equipment weighed 140 pounds and more air is supplied by a pump activated manually by two persons.The equipment is preserved in its original condition and works perfectly. Ah the Agave plant. Filled with amazing patterns and textures. This particular subject was a great find while visiting San Francisco. Using some fun techniques I was able to get the light just right and the dimensionality of the plant just popped! It is definitely fun to take a moment and get intimate with nature. On the coast of Tenerife in the Canary Islands, we have quite the selection of affectionate green turtles (Chelonia mydas). I find myself devoting much time to these curious creatures. A stunning sunset painted the sky over the Jokulsarlon Glacer Lagoon in South Iceland. It was a typical cloudy day in the Icelandic summer. The day was not hoping for a nice sunset, but I still decided to go on the spot, hoping to finally see the sun once the same had left behind the clouds. When the sun went down, in fact the sky burned out in an incredible vanilla tone. The scene was so peaceful and placid, so I decided to capture it with a long exposure, to bring out the amazing sense of oniric peace that this amazing sunset created. سبک معماری جدید در ساخت منزل

سبک معماری گودال های مکالمه شامل جدا نمودن یک بخش کوچک از اتاق بزرگ که اختصاص به دیدن تلوزیون و یا صحیت های دسته جمعی دارد به نحوی که بدون استفاده از دیوار و یا جداکننده فیزیکی در اتاق اجرا گردد.
به نظر می رسد سبک اتاق نشیمن غرق شده به عنوان یک سبک طراحی محبوب بین سال های 1950 تا 1970 در سراسر اروپا و شمال آمریکا رواج داشته است.[منبع]

معماران مدرن Eero Saarinen و Alexander Girard از گودال مکالمه همچون منزل میلر در کلمبوس ایندیانا به سال 1958 به عنوان محور تاثیرگذار خانه استفاده نموده اند، یک طرح مفهموی که سابقه طولانی در گذشته داشته است.
گودال مکالمه برلیان قرمز (برای سالها پوشیده بود و اکنون دوباره بازسازی شده است) توسط Saarinen  در سال 1962 در مرکز پرواز TWA در فرودگاه نیویورک به ثبت رسید.[منبع]

معماری به کار رفته در این اتاق ها حسی لذت بخش از دوره رنسانس را به افراد حاضر منتقل می کند به ویژه که اگر این سبک در خانه های لوکس و ویلایی اجرا شده باشد.
